I was talking to one of my online friends from San Diego who attend the Bakerfield koi show. Him being new to the hobby wanted to checkout the show, he asked me if I have ever heard or seen judges do surgery on a koi during the show. I then asked him what type of surgery? He then replied that the person or judge had said he was fixing the pattern on the fish. I didnt know if this common practice, so I didnt know what to tell him. So my question is.
Is it common practice to alter a fish at the show where many can see this? I thought from reading on other threads that this should be done outside of the show arena.

And altering a fish was considered a hush hush thing.
Thanks,
Todd
