| Hi Tom,
We are fine. We were evacuated about 1:30 am Tuesday because of a fire about a mile east of us in an avocado grove. Turns out there were three small fires started about the same time. The police believe it was arson. Anyway, CDF got on them quickly and they were limited to about 500 acres. We spent the rest of the night at Denny's then went over and hung out at the shelter set up at the sports park. They let us come back up about 3:45 pm. The shelter, along with every hotel in Temecula, all the way up to Hemet and Corona are filled up with evacuees from the San Diego area, where things are much much worse. All night, we could see the flames from the Fallbrook fire. It seems much better today from what I can see. Interestingly, it looks like it is overcast here, but it is actually smoke from the fires. Supprisingly, we are not getting any ash falling.
Right now there are two fires I can see from my house. The fire in Fallbrook is abut two miles to the south and the Camp Pendleton fire is about 6 miles to the west. There is also a fire on Mt Palomar to the south east, but I can't see the fire from here, only smoke from it. As long as the winds stay from the northeast or east, we are fine.
I believe that Tom Graham from the San Diego Koi Club lives in Fallbrook. Let's hope his place is OK.
