You've heard the Seinfeld joke about a space alien's impression of a man walking a dog. The small hairy creature (dog) is leading the large bald creature (human) around with a leash. The large creature picks up the small creatures excrement and carries it home in a bag. It's obvious who the master is.

This is so true!!! When I had my 150gal reef tank, I felt like I was married to it. At least with koi, you get some chill-time. With the reef, it was every day and never ending. I moved...so we have since divorced Still a slave to many animals...fish, dogs and a parrot as well.

Servants to our pets? Ayup. That's why I named my iguana Xerxes. He's the highest maintenance pet I have--even eclipsing the koi....

I remember keeping reptiles, I must have had atleast 30 snakes, savannah monitor and 2 Tokay Geckos that ate adult mice...Man those were the days, mice and rats got too expensive that I ended up starting a breeding program. 14 year old kid selling mice and rats for extra cash, beats throwing newspapers I say.

maybe you should start koi breeding program, selling koi sure beats working for you know....
