Leave her in Japan for another year. She might come out close to 75cm. I heard that they have a couple of nisai that came out at 70 cm. but very expensive.

I saw some monsters at over 70cm comming out of the harvest with bodies to die for...I found out why Big Rose is called what she is...her off spring are massive!

I did how ever also purchase a 58cm sanke nissai which I will take home and grow on there. I would like to see how I did compared to the Sakai mudpond...I know..note very scientific but it should be intresting!
You purchasses some fine koi Erns, my compliments for that. The price for our Yamato includes also the stay in Japan, but you we can still decide to let her come over...there is afcourse a risk to let her stay in Japan.

We bought last june a Sanke from the Akizakura line, when she came out of the pond in october 2006 she was at the age of 16 months 61 cm, she was last october 65 cm and her body improved more. She is now 2 years and 5 months old. Not bad for a dutch pond don't you think !She has little sumi spots, we prefer that more in a Sanke, we don't like the heavy sumispots you see nowadays more and more, but that is afcourse a personal thing...

The sanke on the photo in the blue tank is from the Open sales from SFF, we bought her with 18 months and was 58 cm, she is from the Shobu line from SFF. The photo is of august 2006, she was then 65 cm, she was in october 2007 71 cm.
In think your nisai sanke will grow fast in your pond, I'm sure about it

Its very interesting to have a koi in Japan and a koi in your own pond this year, that's a koi hobbyist dream

A lot of luck with your koi this year Erns

Yeah the big ones are very expensive indeed. We feel very fortunate with our Yamato, we want for a long time a sandan Kohaku and now we strike 2 claps in 1, a Sandan Kohaku from Yamato!!

another yamato girl

Hi everybody I have been reading these threads about everyone else's yamato's so I have been wanting to pull my girl out and measure her, which I finally got a chance to do today. I got her in the spring and she has been in my 2800gal all summer. She was 15" when I got her and today she was 49cm. I would have assumed that her siblings would have grown way more than her over the summer being in sff's mud ponds. From what I have seen most of her siblings were in the mid 50's compared to her 49 any thoughts? the 1st one is her when I got her the 3rd is today

Your Yamato girl has a good devoleppement this summer, you must be proud, her beni is very impressive. You never can have the same growth in your own good pond comparing with a mudpond in Japan. But its still very very good and gives a good impression what the devoleppement would be in the future.
If you look to the first step the sashi is much improved comparing when you purchassed her

Thanks for sharing your Yamato girl and get us upposted...
gr,
Ingrid
