The breeder is SFF and she is a daughter of Yamato, she is purchassed on the last auction in October.

We can't make the decission yet if we let her stay in Japan for the upcoming year of we bring her to our own pound for the next summer .....

What would you do ?

Probably leave it at SFF to be grown on in the biggest mudpond they have for nisai...Did they give an estimate how big the koi would get at sansai?

Very NICE

I would bring it home.
Most here probably wouldn't.

You might want to give it 1 more year there.
Good luck with it,
Tom

Nothing you could do for that koi for the rest of its life could trump what that year would mean to that koi in the long run.

So if you have the opportunity to grow it on there for another year, you'd be wise to take it.

Thanks for sharing and best wishes,

I got a Yamato nissai kohaku from the same auction. Mine is 58cm and I posted her earlier. Leaving her there for another year is included in the price. So I'm leaving mine there. I was there when they harvested the 3 year old customer koi this week and it was quite a sight! THere is no way I can get that kinda growth back home. I saw some monsters at over 70cm comming out of the harvest with bodies to die for...I found out why Big Rose is called what she is...her off spring are massive!

I did how ever also purchase a 58cm sanke nissai which I will take home and grow on there. I would like to see how I did compared to the Sakai mudpond...I know..note very scientific but it should be intresting!
