A few of the Koi harvested this afternoon. A very nice Kujaku and GinRin Showa waiting to be moved to the 85,000 gallon pond. I did not get a photo of it, but there was one GinRin Sanke that really impressed Bob Brudd and me. It not only had perfectly raked Gin Rin that went all the way up to the shoulder and up to the dorsal line, but actually Gin Rin on the dorsal line. Mat said he achieved this by pairing a male Koi with strong Matsunosuke Gin with a GinRin female. The sumi areas were the only places that there was not Gin Rin visible. Most times in a Gin Rin, the sumi looks a bit washed out by the Gin Rin but this Sanke had solid deep ink black sumi. The unique Sanke is MikeM's "Tattoo". While the Koi were being pulled out of the mud pond, the normally quite and reserved Mike let out a loud scream. I did not even have to ask what he had just seen.
More to come tomorrow. It probably will not be until Monday evening before I get a chance to post photos of tomorrow (flying home then I have to go to that activity I do Monday through Friday in order to pay for Koi).

Back from the harvest... It's still going on today, but I could not stay another day. Got one coming out today I'd sure like to have been able to see. A big "Thank You!" to the NKF crew for making it such an experience. Had a wonderful time and already thinking about a return trip. There were some disappointments, which is part of getting tosai to grow to nisai, but there were far more high points... really high points. Lots of pics to post, but it may take a day or so to get to it.

DickB: That flowery Kohaku of yours is looking good. (And the Olsen Sanke is a marvel!)

Wayne: Got pics of yours. Will PM when I can get to them.

She is now 29" at yonsai. I'll post photos of her tonight. JR admitted that his dollar is in extreme danger!

Hmmmmmm, That got me to thinking. If JR loses, who gets the dollar? The breeder (who technically the bet was with) or the owner? Will JR have it framed? The clock is ticking and I think JR may attempt to turn the clock forward to avoid losing his precious dollar!

I remember the pictures of his dollar, comfortable on vacation, another with it having a gormet meal, unworried about the challenge. Me thinks if a picture would be taken today that it may be of his dollar sitting on the camode at a brick factory!

The Sanke Henry posted above is not "The Sanke". The one pictured is Tattoo. She is in her third year. She is special to me, and a very nice Sanke, but she is not in the same league as the one I've not named. I'll get my photos sorted and start posting, but none of mine do justice to her. Hopefully Henry got a good shot. If not, Bob Brudd did, and in due course we'll have it.
