It has a better kohaku pattern, I think. It is low in sumi right now, which I think is good because there seems to be a lot of underlying sumi.
Yes, the beni on the left one is "brighest" and quality is also outstanding.

Ue de showa no hiban wa furui to warui desu.
kono koi wa yabai da na..
I am sorry... can't understand well (^^;;;

shita no migi de showa wo wakaranai.
the right one has thick & even with a sticky feeling (nerikomi) beni

etoo, sundei imasu ka? Kariforunia de? Nippon de?
Watashi wa Tokyo de umare sodachi, ima wa southern CA ni sunde imasu.

It's a Friday afternoon, Would you like to play more??? (haha..)
Attached a pic, 3 Showas tosai have 3 different type/quality beni.

Lil'dude, tell us YOUR opinion on "What makes a good Showa?" first. As mentors here we have to first see if you have a sound foundation to understand Showa.

What makes a good showa....
First, I would like the body to be thick, and conformable to the standards.
I would like a showa with pectoral fins that would look like it fits that fish. I dont want the Rays on the fins to be so white, I prefer more clear/see through when they are young.
I dont like a messy hiban pattern on a showa, I prefer something that would resemble a kohaku pattern before I take sumi into account. I like a thick tail stop to fit the overall "Healthiness" of a showa, or koi in general.

That about sums it up.

Which one is Avarage, Good and Best beni?

Average beni- The whitest showa, its beni seems too razor edge (bad kiwa, and sashi). So I placed it here. This fish does not appeal to me at all.

Good beni- The smallest dark showa, this one appeals to me more than the average, but I am not sure why I would place it here.

Best beni- The lower most fish in the lower picture I think has the best beni, but no sumi looking like its coming up on the head. beni placement seems to be the best on this one too.

You are learning Japanese....that's great

I know we confuse about beni.......

Average beni- The bigger one with nicer Hi pattern.
Not a bad quality but we can find this type of beni in anywhere.

Good beni- The smallest dark one
We won't be able to find easily this type of thick but still has a brighter sheen it it.

Best beni- The whitest one
We are looking for this type of bright beni but it's hardest to find.
If it is a female, it will be a precious Jewel. (haha...)

By the way, all kois including Kohaku in the picture were bred from a same Showa parent .

That is very interesting. A good quality parent might not produce all the same quality offspring.
Does the best beni have good kiwa? it doesnt seem to have good kiwa or sashi. Am I just confused? or am I missing something.

I think your confused. First off in all spawning regardless of vareity the quality will be different. Not one spawning will produce high quality, but a mix of quality. That is why culling is done.

How even the beni is will not always how good the kiwa will be. There are some koi with very good beni, but the kiwa never pulls tight to give it that razor look.

Something is lost in translation...Maybe you can ask Junichi personally, if you go to the show this weekend.
