The second show I attended I won a candle holder for Young Champion. The trophy didnt phase me, but it did give me bragging rights. Shot, for all things you can give koi food as trophies I'll take it...fish cant eat trophies, but they sure as hell can eat koi food...$400 dollar Japanese trophy, I can feed my fish for the whole year with $400.....I'll take the title instead of the trophy, something less to dust in the house.

Plus, how much pride can one have for their fish if they haven't raised them to be a champion. I give props to those who raise their fish...Nancy M., Duke, Henry C and etc....Sorry but this is JMHO..

I won the friendship goldfish award at the Louisville show, also a friendship award for my koi. I won't ever see a GC but these 2 awards are worth gold to me. The goldfish award is hand painted and was hung up that night. My crystal is in dining room and I smile everytime I see it.

We all have a ball and everyone is welcome. The grounds are beautiful, we have outside tents and plenty of places to relax and visit and the food and fellowship are wonderful. If we haven't met you when you get there, you're family when you leave.

It`s getting bigger every year
I have never shown my fish, but personally I prefer the Japanese style trophy if I were to win one. However....I would never, ever complain I would just be happy to win, and certainly not in a public forum. To me that is just rude.Us southerners just weren`t brought up that way.

Hi Carrie! If I win, I'll take bronzed fish poopie! Its the honor of winning that makes it special.

I agree, I have thrown away more $6 tropies than I can count, my office walls, shelves, floor, desk, are full with trophies and awards. I would take HIGH quality food any day over more dust collectors. I have to admit that I do love a lot of the awards we have received, but they in no way replace the feeling of accomplishiment we feel when one of our fish does well at a show.
