with your award, which is only a tangible reminder of accomplishment, I don't think that there is any law against graciously accepting the award given, going home and buying one that makes you happy, having the plaque engraved with the correct information, and displaying it to your heart's content. Your friends will probably laugh at you, but as long as you're happy . . .
With all this controversy, it will probably ruin a generous and gracious gesture. The person in charge of the trophies is proud to share their vision and to criticize their choice may be perceived as a slap in the face. Soon, the awards may be reduced to a certificate, and what fun is that?
