I like that point. One neat thing some clubs do is through a club historian keep excellent records and photos. Winning a title might mean it's listed on the club website or it's in the show program every year from then on. There's probably more satisfaction in that than in any trophy.

Just a thought, not sage advice from my pie-hole.

2008 Louisville Koi Show

We would love to have as many of you as could come . Our Show is Memorial Day Weekend (Sat. & Sun.) , but Fri. has become as big of a day (if not bigger) then the show . We have a large party Friday night for everyone at the show site (AKCA Judge C. Phelps estate) . Having the show at this site , you have the estate to walk around (Large rose gardens + Mr. Phelps private koi pond , etc.). We have no plans on being a 250 koi show , but I promise everyone a wonderful time .

Bonus : The horses are running at Churchill Downs that weekend (10 min. away) !

Jeff , that idea comes from the original intent of ZNA's magazine Nichirin and later from AKCA's KOI USA to create a record of member shows and the winning fish. At one point it was THE record of winning fish in America and you could see how competitive an individual club was compared to other clubs by the nature of the fish that were winning. A very cool visual record. You could also get a sense of the sophistication of the local club members and learn something about their eye for koi.
If you collect all of the ALL JAPAN official record books, you will actually have a photo record of all the Grand Champions of those shows and all the fish that placed. This series represents the very best fish in the world produced since 1969. It is very enlightening so see EVERY best fish produced from the very best farms through the years. JR

I like certificates, at least the ones awarded at our first show. Every participant received a certificate for each koi entered. The certificate included the participant's name, variety and size of koi, award if any, and a color picture of the koi. All this was computer generated by our show photographer who had never taken a picture of a koi before the week prior and did not know the difference between a koi and comet. He made no mistakes. The certificates were awarded at the banquet that evening. For the top awards, we later sent similar certificates of appreciation to the dealers who sold the koi to the participant.

These certificates are displayed nicely and constantly remind me of those koi. Some of the awards I have won since, I am not even sure what they were for or which box they are stored in.

For me, its all about the koi.

Looking forward to meeting you. We're setting up an extra tent with lounge chairs and fans (I have power surges (hot flashes) Pets on leashes or in baby carriers are welcome.

Great idea. I guess since I'm secretary, I need to start keeping track.

I'd love to see one if you can post it. If its up and photobucket, I can't see.

Everyone is invited to this show. Looking forward to meeting new friends.

Reminder:
Of course here in San Diego the top prizes also receive cash awards from Aqua Ultraviolet. Grand champion receives $1000 again in February. Imagine the trophy you could buy to replace the one that isn't wow enough for you.
