What would you rather see at a koi show?

What would you rather see at a koi show....

Nice Trophies or High Quality Fish?

For me I would want to see both...but since you cant have your cake and eat it too I would go for High Quality Fish...

As a visitor to a show I want to see the fish and I'll spend most of my time there around the exhibits. I'll make a cursory glance at the trophies purely to check them out to see if there's any useful ideas that could be deployed at my own clubs show.

As a show worker I believe that the prizes should be something an exhibitor can treasure. We put a lot of effort into the major prizes and the best in size awards 1st thru 3rd. This year we tried to make an extra effort with the certificates for the majors too.

But if I wasn't a show worker, I doubt I'd take much notice of the trophies.
It's got to be the Koi every time.

as a visitor, I really want to see great fish. As an exhibitor, I also want to see great fish....but trophies that are attractive and suitable to display at home are very nice too. It's just icing on the cake though...the show is about the fish and the people.

Why can't you? I don't see any reason at all that you can't have high quality koi AND high quality trophies. I vote both. Now if you are saying that I must choose one or the other hypothetically then the answer is very clear....high quality koi.

Definitely high quality koi, then meeting new people and making new friends, then what I learned at the show, then what I can contribute to the hobby and its advancement, then the trophies. To me, trophies are just superficial. If you have excellent husbandry skills to select koi and make them shine under your care, then people will know you for who you are, not for how big or how many trophies you have won.
