| Hi Mark,
O, mine is sanke. His is likely sanke also. If you go back, many kohaku lines has sanke in the wood pile. Then kohaku became pure and separate. Then it was used to lift sanke and showa beni.
Now many are using a sanke showa mix to help showa in the size and skin area. And these 'middle' hybrids are usually culled, but as I said this is a nice fish and that would be a shame. But as a show fish? I would think this is more a 'collector's ' fish and something for the collector that appreciates quality elements for want they are. But too far afield from the standard. After all, the standard is for re-enforcement of the genetic goal. And the koi show becomes the art critic of an individual work of living art. Don't think this fish can make the cut as a sanke any more so it could attempt to try and be a showa? But a good judge will not see this as a kindai showa but rather a high class cull of sanke , I suspect. A truely beautiful third place fish.
That sumi on the nose might give the atmosphere of a showa as far as pattern goes. But the type and shape suggest sanke. IMHO JR |
