Joining a club only broadens your knowledge. There is nothing like "hands on" information through folks that live in your neighborhood. If you ever need help, those same club members will be there to offer help. The relationships that are formed over a common interest are invaluable. It also gives you the opportunity to get more involved in the hobby if that is your choice. LV is a fairly new club, but has a lot of really nice dedicated folks. They also host a show annually which you will really enjoy. Yes, sometimes there can be some politicking going on, but look at that as an opportunity to volunteer for a board position to have a voice in the direction of the club. A club is what you make of it.
Nothing but pros in my opinion.
