what's the significant of this pin

This pin came to my attention during last weekend ZNA NorCal Show. I wonder if someone can elaborate on its significant in koi hobby.

hmm! with precious metal price skyrocket lately, this pin now worth more in monetary value than sentimental value? off course, you know I am kidding! I am not sure what it's made off. It belongs to someone else so I can't get a closer look but it looks nice in the picture. the fact that it has a kohaku symbol, there must be a story behind it.

that makes this pin rare then?

come to think of it, I never seen a tie bar before either.

maybe someone from ZNA SoCal can help ID this piece. I haven't been around this koi hobby that long.

I could be wrong, but I think these tie clips are giving as part of the award package for GC at ZNA shows. DH got one a while ago. Must have been for the Orlando honors (2007 I think), but it has a different design on the front. Blue background with silver koi swimming. Very pretty!! Perhaps it changes occassionally.

Just a thought.

It kinda looks like the Kuroki's Kohaku Hikari uses on their packaging. Either way nice tie bar.

Kohaku tie clasp

Steve

Told Dinh that I also had the same pin .Grant Fujita when he was a dealer, brought back some of them.At the back in Japanese it says 12TH All Japan show.
There is also one also with a kohaku on a blue and silver background which was given by Dr.Kuroki. These were given to Grant by Dr.Kuroki.
Also there is a silver tie clasp on silver with a koi half in red and silver.A 20th central koi show.
All three were given me by Grant.

Grant has a great collection of koi tie clasps that he collected at the many shows he judged/ attended.

koi pins

Hi Larry,
That kohaku was used for our 1996 ZNA SO CA show. I think a lot of folks would be interested in going to the website of koi pins. Would you post the link to that ?
Thanks, Louie
