Living in the tropics I have become familiar with the palm tribe. Yes Dick, the term "nana" or "nano" can imply or describe a variety of plant as well as things like nanotechnology which are things dealing with atomic and molecular scale.
Palm tree botony and terminology is a little different than hard wooded plants such as the conifer family which can use "nana" (dwarf) as a description.
The palm tribe uses either common or scientific names but there are no sports or variations that would be named "nana". Palm species and crosses do not dwarf the same as you would find with woody ornamentals.
