Puts his thinking cap on........

"with water changes and an extremely good filter, the fish are theoretically living in a larger volume of water that what is really there. The filter purifies the water so they are always getting clean water, and they get new water from the constant water changes."

is this correct?

I would agree to the quality of water may in good condition if small % of water change is done daily, but over stock somehow will affect its grow either slow or not as expected. That's no doubt.

Yes I believe that is true however he does get pretty good growth rates and he generally moves them on to new owners when they get around 24".

Nothing surprises me anymore. Being in the business of building or retrofitting existing ponds, we've seen things that would make the hair on the back of your neck stand straight up and salute! Some folks need work done on ADI ponds that have realized that they got sold a bill of goods and others just found out that what they've been doing is wrong and want to improve it. Both cases are a "good thing'. At least these folks have come into the light and now want to do it the right way. Others, when you suggest that they're overstocked, underfiltered or whatever, want to argue with you, then that's our cue to leave. I just won't work for folks like that.

Moikoi, I hope your friend has success with his "large" toilet. I suspect he won't in a couple years, but after what I've seen and heard about, nothing surprises me anymore.
