In generally speaking, more slender and longer body type is preferable at Sansai and also sumi is a bit too early to up for Dainichi's tategoi type showa.
but I guess you already bought her..... they say that it often glows better in different pond/different water. so, Good luck (^^)v

Nope...still thinking about her. I like the feedback I got so far from all the experts. What do you think are the risks here? Given that she will come to my concerete pond so no mudpond to fall back to save the day.

IMHO, no fish is a decent investment, especially when you're looking at 5K right off the bat for this fish. Personally, I side with Larry on the beni issue. It seems to only be an issue on the dorsal area pattern. The 3rd and 4th steps seem to have very clean sashi and "finished"! The sumi as JR and Junichi-san have pointed out are still a little juvenile and way behind the beni and shiroji. The body is a little plump, but that could be the photo as the fish is not straight to see the full shape. As the ozutsu appears to be quite thick, I think the body is good. Again, maybe the photo is the problem!? If this fish could be grown out for another year, then I think your money would go farther. My Matsunosuke kindai showa went from 61cm ake sansai in January to 73cm when she came home 2 weeks ago and ake Yonsai. I did not buy this fish as a beauty show queen to compete with, just for the fact that she was one of Sakai's "new magoi bloodline" with the maruzome sumi. Should be fun to watch her change over the next two years or so.

It is difficult to say because each of us have a own measure of acceptable or not acceptable lines. and I think that a measure change continuously by more experience, by a level of knowledge, etc.

As we know, there is no perfect koi, all of them have a good and not so good thing together, no exception.. Plus, I don't know how high your goal is.... how high you are dreaming of...

But..................
>I like the pattern but the beni and body troubles me a bit

You already feel and know it, since she is already Sansai, we can see the tendency much more clearly than tosai or nisai. so,it is depend on you, your measure...

Just one thing that I can give you a friendly advice is that the sumi on a main bone of the right side pectoral fin..... unfortunately that is a negative sigh for a future prediction of the sumi quality. Happy koi hunting (^_^)/

Thank you Junichi. I think in one sentence you tought me a valuable lesson.
I will pass on her for now. I don't think the dealer will be able to sell her very quickly so she will be in his concrete pond for the summer and I (hopefully) will be able to see how she develops compared to the two nissai showas I got at Riuyki from Dainichi. They have settled really well in my pond and I'm sure the bigger one have allready added some weight. We are going into summer now so I think by April I will have some very big nissai showas!

Gray based Black --> Blue based Black --> Navy based Black --> Navy/Purple based Black.

--> = More luster. it become harder to find.

Here is a pic of D showas nisai owned by my friend in Japan and He got them from the same place as you got yours. Just for our future reference..... They ARE GOOD!!
