How interesting! Reminds me of two queens from my Kaylakat colony--Joon is the classic black and white, very elegant, with very correct conformation and movement, and insanely intelligent--a perfect rendition of what Kaylakat is. No matter who she's carefully bred with, I get mainly medium coat solid blacks of no great consequence. Her sister Saeri, a solid black with good conformation and tons of coat, so-so movement and half the intelligence of Joon produces carbon copies of her more opulent sister and the finest producer of her breed.

Just goes to show you what recessive genes are capable of doing in the background of an otherwise ordinary being.

It's going to be fun trying to pick out one tosai from Panda's lineage and one from Musashi's to compare side by side as they develop...

Every breeder in the world is using Omosako Shiros in their breeding, why buy a Omosako "bloodline" Shiro from another breeder when you can buy it straight from the farm that produces it...This is a great study for all who buys these fish and at a great price thanks again to The Mystic Family, JNorth and Brian Sousa for making this growout happen.

I would like to add my comment, in order to avoid misunderstanding /misleading by my previous post, if any....

As Shawn said, Panda is really famous for the koi she spawns among serious hobbyists in Japan and I personally prefer to Panda's babies.

I'm in if any left

If it's ok for farm owners to play, count me in. I have a 5 acre mud pond that's looking for tenants.

Thanks,

about how old did Panda lost her sumi? for breeders, it's obvious that majority of their fish will be sold before reaching 4/5 yrs old. so losing all sumi is not a concern but for hobbysts who plan to keep the fish for decades, it's something to think about.

on the other hand, having two fish in one body is not a bad thing. it's a matter of taste I guess. )

Hey Caruso!- For a five acre mud pond you should go ahead and get ..... ummmmmm ..... three!

Jim- You've got Mickey down for 3. Is that me after our phone call? My user name is Mitten and could I reserve three for user name Luke Frisbee also?

Thank you JNorth, Bill D, Shawn and Brian.

I have never asked about that but it has not happened on the babies as far as I know. so I am not worry at all. Otherwise, if a koi has REAL quality, we could enjoy it for a long long time.
