I was hoping that it was part of the growing contest if the koi become a shiro. Why is it not part of the growing contest if it become a shiro? That tancho spot is so small that I dont expect it to be there by the end of this year.

somewhere way buried in this long thread, that question was asked and answered. I believe Jim said that these tanchos are not part of the contest, even if their tancho spot fades.

yep that is what he said and it has got to stand....
Now the other question needs to be begged...
what about all the Showas that were taken? Are they allowed to be judged as Shiro utsuris?
What if they loose the hi on their bodies?
and what if My Shiros Develop Tancho spots?
i think they weren't thinking on this one as a koi is judged "on that day".
But then again Maybe the tanchos are not omosako, or maybe the people that have to decide the winner felt it would be too difficult figure a winner if the third color was added....but I would have figured that the fish would have been judged "on that day".
but the rule was tossed out there very early on. So it stands.

I couldn't take it cuz I had to take a "fat koi" so I could learn...but dang it that koi is going to be a sharp looking shiro...see the black dripping out of that eye?

BUT do Not take this fish if you are NOT going to post pics of it and stay with the contest.

I wouldn't be bothered either way, but it is after all an "Omosako Shiro Utsuri" contest. The availability of Tancho Showas was clearly a fringe benefit that purchasers could opt for if they chose, but shiro's are what we are judging for selection and husbandry skills.

If you want your selection for the contest it isn't too late to change your selection. It's up to you.
