no what I am saying is remember that ALL tanchos can lose the beni on their heads. If that happens to these Tancho showas, they become shiro utsuri. They won't be eligible for the contest as tanchos or shiros though. Anytime you pick a tancho showa or a tancho sanke, look at the whole fish and determine if it will still be a nice utsuri or bekko with the tancho spot gone, because it is possible that will happen.

My understanding of the way the pick goes is Jim will give us the top available fish that is on the list we submit to him in our assigned order. Jeff gets #150 regardless of who else sends in lists first. Bito gets his first choice (as long as it isn't the fish Jeff chose), Cricket gets his first choice (as long as Jeff or Bito didn't already select it), etc. This is a very fair way to do it. I think the reason why we should submit a list of 10 is if we're not personally present when our turn comes. It'll make the process go faster....

Maybe I shouldn't have stated my pick so as not to confuse folks. If you're in the top 20, you should go ahead and include #150 if it's in your top picks. Just don't be surprised when it's gone at #1.

I went back and re-read Jim's post. When he said "order" I read it to mean the order he received the pm, not the order of picking.

This is good and very fair. At least you don't have to sit glued to your computer once the games begin.

Look guys this is not that difficult. why would the person with the #1 pick have to submit 10 picks?? We all know he's going to get his first pick! #2 should only have to submit 2 picks, #3, three pick and so on.
Jim save yourself some grief and re-think the 'submit 10 picks' thing, when it comes time for, 11 thru 20 to pick (with only 10 submitted) their pick could very well by gone, then you're going to have to have to contact them for additional picks. This thing could take forever.

if Jeff picks #150 then just delete pic #150 from the group or put his name below #150.

it would be cool to see them in the order they were picked withg the owner's name underneath...and then again to see another one that has the Owner's name and th epics of the koi they chose

Okso its the order of the pms or the # in line we are I am #9 but if # 11 gets their pick in first they get that fish

I don't think this is quite correct. The first 20 people will each send their top 10 picks to Jim. Once received, He will start with the order of names on the list. As he goes down the list, he will give you the highest pick on your list that hasn't already been selected. Otherwise, what would be the importance or significance of having the FIRST PICK! If Jeff sticks to #150 as his first pick, when the time comes, that fish will not be available to anyone else. Does that make better sense?!?
