Koi-bito and Mystic Koi present the Omosako Grow-out Challenge

Hello everyone,

I'm pleased to announce we will be having a grow-out challenge for this new year coming. Here are the rough details: Mystic Koi has around 100 shiro utsuri tosai coming in on the 4th. I will post photos of all of them somewhere around a week after that. Each will be numbered. The price for each will be $75 and thats a very big discount price (plus shipping if needed) and you can buy a max of 3. For each one that you buy your name will be put into a box. All the names will be pulled randomly and you will pick from the selection in the order your name is pulled. Obviously the more you buy the better chance you'll get of having a higher pick. After a years time a winner will be announced based on photos and the information that you will provide. If you fail to provide the information and photos by the deadlines then your koi will not be judged. This board is full of honorable members so I don't think we'll have a problem using the honor system for this.

So who does the judging?

Well, we thought the best judge for this would be the Omosako Koi Farm. So Omosako will judge the winner based on photos and the information provided. The Grand Champion will be based on a combination of things and not just whichever is the largest.

Whats the prize for GC?

Well since the winner will have picked the best koi from this batch the winner will then get to pick from 5 koi Omosako has decided to grow on to nisai. Thats right you'll get to pick from 5 koi and the one you pick will will then be grown on to nisai in the Omosako mud ponds in Japan. The cost for all of that will be of course be picked up by Mystic Koi. We might also have some other items.

Are there other prizes?

Yes there are. There will be a prize for the largest and the smallest and some others that will be announced at a later date.

Who is can enter?

Any Koi-bito forum member in good standing that resides in the USA.

When can I enter?

As long as everything goes well with the shipment on December 4th then you can get in on the 5th. Getting in early will in no way affect the picking order but it will reserve your shiro utsuri(s).

Are there more details coming?

Yes there are but this covers the basics.

All payments for the koi and shipping etc will be made directly to Mystic Koi. Please give them your username here on Bito and I will check it for them to make sure you are actually a member.
