What do you think of this Showa

I'm considering this Showa and would like some feedback. It's a 2 yr old Isa Showa that's about 18-19".

Geeez Nancy, you know how I feel about judging koi from pictures.....you can't! You can only judge pictures of koi from pictures.

All that being said, let's help Sterling make his own decision. First, have you seen this koi in person? If not, do you know someone in the area that can look at it for your that you trust as an unbiased observer? If you have seen it or you have somene else look at it for you here's some questions to get answered:

1) is the Koi as white as depicted?
2) Is the motoguro as tight as it seems on the koi's right side and balanced with the left pec (not visible from photo).
3) How thick is the beni in real life?
4) Does the skin have the apparent luster that it does in the photo?
5) Is the body structure as depicted in the photo?

Now, as for pattern, print out the first photo and get out a black "sharpie." color in the underlying/undeveloped sumi.

6) How does the pattern look to you now?

If all of the above seem favorable to you, have at it!

Steve

Putting the dealer where this Showa is from away, because it is about the fish not the dealer. I was at that dealer's this past weekend, sad to say I didnt pick up some fish I liked, but came home with 6 bags of Izeki Chitonal for my friend KeoKoi..

Anyways, the emerging sumi looks really good....The indigo shade from underneath looks good and uniform. Depending on your water it will take time for the sumi to come up, but I think you will be happy when it does. We(hobbyist) tend to stress more on the Kohaku pattern on the Showa we buy, but if the quality is good the pattern becomes secondary. This Showa has good placement of Beni pattern and well balanced. The conformation looks pretty good, maybe if the head was a bit longer then it would be okay with me...Nice overall ISA Showa...

I guess you all know that I have seen her. Let me try to answer Steve's questions.

1) is the Koi as white as depicted? The white is outstanding on this koi

2) Is the motoguro as tight as it seems on the koi's right side and balanced with the left pec (not visible from photo). Motoguro is tight on right side, left side motoguro more visable.

3) How thick is the beni in real life? Beni is very thick, however the beni is a little oranger than the picture shows.

4) Does the skin have the apparent luster that it does in the photo? Luster is also very good.

5) Is the body structure as depicted in the photo? Yes she has a real nice thick tail tube, boddy looks very good. big body bone structure.
