New Filter Media from Japan!

While in Ojiya this trip we found this media. It is plastic and are about 1/4" in size. It comes in its own media bag. It would work in a fluidized bed, static or in a trickle tower. It costs only about $12.00 a cubic foot. We only brought back a cubic foot to try it out.

Does not look like there's alot of surface area to it. For the price it's remarkably cheap.

Looks like snipped drinking straws. I imagine it will work fine as it is more or less like K1 though with much less surface area.
