I didn't mean to cause trouble.

I'm sorry if my questions created discord. It was not my intention. I was just confused about what I read and found it difficult to find the answer on the internet.

You didn't cause any trouble at all Mike. Think nothing of it .

I'll add this though. I'm guessing you are thinking about showing koi in the future? I think it's great if you are . So now that Ray answered your original question here is a little more about the sizes. a lot of shows use this format for deciding the sizes. Note that I said a lot. You need to check each shows rules to determine what the sizes are but this is generally what is used.

size 1 up to 8"
size 2 8"-12"
size 3 12"-16"
size 4 16"-20"
size 5 20"-24"
size 6 24"-28"
size 7 28"-32" or just 28" and up if they have no size 8
size 8 32" and up

Keeping those sizes in mind when it comes time for show day you want to bring koi that are close to the max length in its size range. 11.5" is a good size for size 2 now if that koi were 12.5" that would bump it up to size 3. A 12.5" koi is generally notgoing to do well against a 15.5" koi(there are always exceptions but...).
