in your opinion, what makes the nishikigoi hobby different from others?

The serenity of them gliding through the water, the excitment at feeding time, watching them grow.
Learning, and helping others also plays a big part.
You don't have to be rich, just carefull.

Let's face it, Lil'Dude is the "new blood".....Coming from a former "new blood" my Gen X ways never allowed me to fullfil what was expected of me by my peers...

All I can do is be an activist to what is wrong in this hobby and correct what is so-called right...Too many people in this hobby wear rose colored sunglasses and percieve everything is ok when it isnt. Now I am going to go on my break and puke too just like Don..

In any case, this forum isn't like some of the other 'feel good' Forums. It's an adult forum for serious hobbyists. And sometimes it gets pretty heated.

So if we're giving you heartburn, there are other forums where eveyone's real polite. They even have niceness nannies.

Of course, all the big guns of the hobby don't teach there -- so that's a personal tradeoff you'll have to make.

It's a shame that you wonder who I am as opposed thinking about the point of my post, which is the complete lack of respect that you show your fellow hobbyists. You have once again exhibited your bad attitude by trying to accuse someone of being an incognito enemy as opposed to who I really am, a person who has called you our on your disrespectful behavior.

Like I said, I've never posted, you've never met me, I'm just someone who has carefully read posts on this and other boards through the years and I'm tired of the way you attack other members. I'm just wondering why you can't share the reason you love this hobby, but you feel instead that you must disrespect someone who's fostering a discussion on why were all involved in the hobby?

Lee, you've done so much for the hobby with your involvement in bringing in
top rated koi for all to see in various shows across the states. Donations from your pins etc.....nice to see someone who has accomplished as much as you have to be so smitten still with koi and the hobby.

During this special season I think it would be great if we could keep things we post on a positive affirming note.....

Nice job...you guessed it. They thought it would take an hour or longer, but I thought you'd figure it out sooner. You just won me ten bucks!

I listen and deal with Kent's insane pond filtration rantings on a daily basis, to the point where I want to scream from the top of lungs to all of the people obsessed with their koi, "They're just fish people!!!". But, even when I get a frustrated as I do with ridiculous comments, questions and concerns from other people, I still find it in me to remember that I'm just as ridiculous as they are. I'm obsessed with koi! My life revolves around fish poop! I love everything about this hobby, but I'm completely bummed out by your comments and I truly hope that you take this to heart...lay off with the attitude, you'll scare the "new blood" away!

I'm fully expecting an out and out beating, but if I'm going to part of any of these discussions, I guess I have to expect it.
