Nice investment Dan, so when are we going to start breaking ground on your pond project? By the way how's your Ooyama Showa doing, any new pictures?

I don't have any pictures of the Ooyama yet but I heard that didn't come out as well. It had good growth but developed some secondary hi.

I don't know when/if I will ever break ground. The Hoshikin and Ooyama may wind up being very nice gifts to someone. hahaha

I'd take #1 or 14 in a heart beat . Take a look at the tail section of that young lady (14) !

Dan-

Thanks for the before/after pics - comparing the "growth & development" progress shots is one of my favorite koi pasttimes.

Hmmm, at first glance like #2 b/c pattern balance, but wish edges more sharply defined between head & next step. Would probably choose #7 (yeah, I know it's yours) b/c I generally prefer larger, simpler patterns on kohaku, love her big body and the head/face shape and proportion. May she continue to grow, grow, grow!

All seem to have beautiful skin from pics - love to see them in person.

Always good to hear from you, Jen. As far as picks go, my top two choices before they went into the mud was 7 and 15 (as labled in post #8). Of the group, I thought 7 had the best body potential. I thought 15 had great body as well and an "interesting" pattern. I opted for the body and went with 7.

It's hard to pick a fish from this second set of pictures objectively. I'm naturally drawn to the same fish I choose the first time around. The size, the line, the color and the conformation are still what I look for. I couldn't have hoped for anything more and I'll be keeping it in Japan for another year.

#13 and #9....I like a lot of white on my kohaku....and the pattern seems just big enough to stretch with the fish.
