2:1 odds that Dick had a simple typo and meant 25% instead of 24%. That would give him 4 domestic and 2 gosanke of 8 total fish.

Carolyn, it's funny that I was just thinking the same thing, and I came up with either 6/25 or 12/50 or 18/75 or 24/100, etc.

As for me, I currently have 12 gosanke (5 kohaks, 3 sanke, & 4 showa) & 6 non-gosanke, so I guess that means I have 66.7% gosanke & 33.3 non-gosanke. All are Japanese imports. I definitely have some low-grade koi in my collection that will be finding good homes soon.

I own 8 koi in total of which 6 are Go-Sanke varieties. Making 75% of my collection Go-Sanke.

Breaks down like so,

3 Kohaku
2 Showa
1 Sanke
1 Yamabuki Ogon
1 Chagoi

sorry about that

was in a hurray and hit the wrong numeral and naturally didn't check.....
So I get back on tonight and find it kindly pointed out

I did think it was fun to note the fact that half were domestic, something a few years back I would have bet you wouldn't have happened to my pond.
( I think the japanese ones learn english a lot faster this way)

78% Gosanke
89% Domestic

2 Tancho Kohaku (1 in a mudpond in NJ)
2 Sanke
1 Showa (in a mudpond in TX)
2 Kohaku
2 Ogon

At least until Christmas, then the Kohaku's, Ogon's and 1 Sanke go to a friends pond who had heron problems.
