Unhappy Lost in Japan

Well.....we got some news today about the two fish left in Japan to grow out that have been there for two years now. They were both supposed to come home last winter, but the Kohaku wasn't harvested by the breeder and the Ueno Showa just didn't get shipped so back into the mud she went. Since then S. Japan was hit by some major flooding so we just don't know what's going to happen there.

The Kohaku is gone!!!
We don't know about the Ueno showa yet.

Both these fish were scheduled for the Orlando show this spring!!! Now I'm not sure what we'll do. If the showa is still alive, we likely won't get her in the US in time for that show!!!

There have been quite a few losses this year. I am very sorry to hear about your Kohaku. Hopefully the Showa will come through.

Interesting? I wonder why this year? Loosing the Kohaku was heartbreaking. She would have been 5 this winter!! I can only imagine if she had lived how wonderful she would have been. At least Kevin was right there when they harvested the pond so we know she was simply MIA.

Sue

My partners and I lost a kohaku in the mud this year as well. She was in the AJKS this past January and we were really looking forward to seeing her again. They even went back and re-seigned the pond for a second time. The other fish that was MIA came out but not ours. I also lost a very nice Ai Goromo. She was harvested and then pine coned three days later. At least I got my showa. She went in the mud pond at 24" and came out at 29". Also doubled her volume since January. So, if this is any indication, your showa should come home too - I hope for your sake!!!

Mike, was it worth it to leave them in the mud? These are some substantial losses!! I'm not so sure I will do this again!! I've worried about these two fish for well over a year now since they didn't come home last winter. I asked Kevin if they seigned the pond a second time to make sure. Don't really know if they did or not.

Oh! So Sorry to hear that Sue, I know how heartbraking you are.

Similarly, I lost my Shiro in the mud pond five months ago as well. Take it easy.

Sue, I'm really sorry. Both of those fish are beautiful.

How does it work in Japan? Since you obviously paid for the fish, do they replace them or give you your money back?
