I'd double check both tap and pond readings, again -- and make sure that:

1. Your test kit hasn't expired; and,
2. You warm the water to room temp before you test it.

If that doesn't help reconcile the two readings, reconsider your stocking levels and doubling your water changes.

Finally, I wasn't aware that an immature filter uses more KH than a mature one does. Care to elaborate?
Koicop....to be honest I haven`t checked it lately.I`m sure now that I have stopped feeding, it is much closer. The last time I checked it I`m sure I did not let the pond water warm to room temp either.

As far as the immature filter causing lower KH.....that is just what I was told.It may not be correct. So I can`t elaborate ...sorry.

No problem, Carrie.

Why don't you go ahead and test -- just for giggles -- then put your #'s up and we'll see what's shaking?

Don,
Ok...got the water tested.I pulled the solar cover off to look at my koi,....Those Kohaku are looking GOOD in this cold water

Anyway...it is closer but not the same.My flters and bottom drains are still running and will be all Winter.
Pond is now 100 and tap is 120.
My PH is always stable at around 7.2
My water temp is 52 today.
