Hi eugene,

Wondering if you can post the percentage of males when you harvest this lot next year. My friend purchased a lot buy consisting of 140 kohaku tosai from a breeder in japan, approx. 75% turned out to be male after we harvested from the mud pond.

Thanks

Larry

I will let you know but looking at them I would say that majority where female . Momotaro produces 6 million fry and they cull very heavily .Then again it depends on the grade of tosai the best are going to be grown to nisai and may be auctioned . The second best is still higher quality than most breeders first . I will send you photos of the 4sets of parent koi my tosai were produced from and their sizes . For instance the Gin rin kohaku parent 92cm Won the best Gin rin kohaku at the All Japan Koi show in Jas 2007 .
Regards
Eugene

Turns out I ended up going to the airport myself late last night... your delay with AC mine with Delta.. surprised we didn't bump into each other at customs LOL

Can't wait to see the Sanke We will have to get together over the holidays and swap fish stories.

Best to you,
Terri

What a wonderful immersion into koi selection and development! You are going to have a lot of folks envious of the experience.

Excuse me,

Eugene? Did you fall in?

You're a photographer and you may be able to guess what I would like to see. Pics, Baby!

They're home in the greenhouse, right? All OK?

All fish are doing fine . I added some photos to my first post . I have about 90 tosai . 2male nisai which are really stunning and hopefully I can bid on some females at next years auction . I looked at nisai for Feb auction and it is enough to make one sell all his fish . The best are usually purchased by Asian dealers . The 84cm 6year old Sanke was enough for me to have missed
a nights sleep . It was an extremely generous gift to our daughter by Mr Maeda . I plan to raise and study the fish and any from sales all go to towards better fish or ponds . We named the Sanke Lady Sue after my daughter Susan I promise to send some photos tomorrow . As to my ponds you can see them at Eugene Gmitrowicz Koi Ponds and Koi
Regards
Eugene
