Kohaku numer #4 has no Sashi from the pic, a little concerned for it to have a lasting impression. To me Sashi is one of the foundations to set in looking at future potential of a fish regardless of the bloodline. By book a 1 row line of Sashi is preferred. The beni on it is probably the best but for future potential it doesnt look to bright. JMHO

I like second one from the left. It has good white and body conformation. Beside that, she also has a unique head pattern.

The pattern is very unique on this fish. With this Kohaku you can show it at anytime in the growth process, even thou the skin quality isnt the best, I think it has the best future based on the consistancy of the skin quality and the beni. Out of this set of Kohakus it seems to have consistant Sashi among the head of each step pattern.

#4 is the best among all, #1 not too bad in body conformation but only worry about the beni on the right shoulder, looks like breaking down

I have been thinking about taking that one too, because it seems to have the best beni.
Last night, when you first posted the pictures, there were only four Kohaku. The one I chose is now the 4th one from the left. I would not pic number 5.

agree with you Russ

I looked at the pics first then read the thread and agree for my selection, it would be #4.

in future, label them with A,C,D,...or 1,2,3,4,5.... so on. this way, it's easier for references.

given these fish, if I have to choose one, I would pick the second one from the right too.

Steve

I would pick the most fancy pattern of #2 and the most boring pattern of #4 from those pictures.
I would ask to take at least 5 pics on each fish, if I have to select that' level of koi by only picture..... 60 degrees like those angle, left & right side, 90 degrees from top and a pic from tail to head. there are so many things to check it out.....

as little fish some of the patterns are interesting, but when i see them on big fish they are not appealing...also the closer I look, the less I want them...for instance the window on the side of one of them...
and the edges of others..the "more yellow than the others" yellow on one of them's head.
