I am in Louisville KY. My pond is covered with a greenhouse during the late Fall and Winter. But I at am still at the mercy of the weather, to a certain extend, when it cometoot pond temperatures as I do not add auxillary hear. My pond temperature is 60 degrees right now and I will feed until December 31st, provided the temperature does not go below 50 deg F. I will resume feeding in March. I have significant insulation between the ground and the pond walls and the greenhouse works wonderfully.

My outdoor pond is now at 47 degrees. It is covered with a green house structure. We have not been above 32 here all week, it is to early for us to be this cold already. My goal is to keep it above 45. I still do water changes and the filter is still running with the aerator raised higher in the pond. The temps are being stable at this temp. I expect the the water to go back to 50 when the sun can again shine on the green house. The pond is just over 5 feet deep.
I do not feed below 50. I do not think the fish would take it even if I tried.

The bottom of my pond is 39deg. It was 36, due to a large air pump and airstones at the bottom...and that caused some problems. Two fish deaths unfortunately. All straightened out now. Should sail smooth until spring...hopefully!!!

I live in Colorado at the foothills of the mountains. I don't think the high has been out of the thirties all week. I have a 14,000 gallon pond that is 6 foot deep. It has a Pergola over it that is covered with greenhouse film. Right now the water temp is 45deg. I stopped feeding at 50deg although they would readily eat now if I offered it (they are up at the top begging). I actually tried feeding them once a couple weeks ago when the temp was 47deg and they ate like I hadn't fed them in a year.

I do have a heating system on order from one of the dealers that will keep my Koi toasty all year.

You will need a big heater to get it toasty in 14,000 gal.
