It did make my top 50. My picks below 30 are mostly just patterns that I would like to follow. The head did bother me, reminded me of a Showa that I saw once, but I do think it is the picture. I would hope that the deformed heads were culled long before this point. I agree with the beni sumi comment. I think maybe I could learn more about that from this one. A lot of the other heavy sumi ones do not have this type of sumi beni.

Mike,

Do you think the pattern will stay? I like 51 also but do you think the pattern will stay or is most of the sumi "baby sumi" and will fade as the koi matures?

It seems to me that sumi pattern on the body would be same as the koi matures....
it will sink/fade during summer time temporally, then come up again during next winter.
the sumi on the fins would tighten up like motoguro but the sumi on the upper main bone of the tail fin and the main bone of the dorsal fin would remain.
the white patch on the shoulder would enlarge as the koi matures.
If sumi on the head tighten/shrink a bit, the koi will be a nice looking Uturi .....No guarnteed

Possibly crooked, certainly seems so in this picture. But I was also hoping it was just where it was swimming in the picture... This is another reason why I don't like buying from pictures, but all in fun
