Quick question, why did you decide to bring the fish back so early? Sanke of such fine qualities could have been left for atleast 2 years...

Good question Tony. I brought her back because I wanted to raise her myself and also I do not have many new kois after rebuilding my pond.Although this sanke have many fine qualities, she wont be All Japan show winner. To keep her in Japan for another season means keeping charges and if she turn out 70cm next year,I will have to pay more for freight to bring her back.Lastly,Sakai Fish Farm is 1 of the top few Japanese koi breeders, naturally they will have to take care of many customer's kois,so for koi like this, dont think they will be extra TLC for it unless shes All Japan show material.

That's cool, most people want to raise the fish and see the development. Thanks for sharing the pics with us.

How big is that kohaku? She looks to be nisai and about 20-22"!?Between the two, I think I would do what you're doing - bring the sanke home and enjoy her and leave the kohaku there for the 2 years. She should be enormous by then and worth the extra freight to ship back at that time to contend for GC honors. Best of luck

If she does enter, I hope she does well. There's a lot of potential in that fish. If Sakai does give her the VIP treatment, that says a lot about what he feels her chances are. Maybe Russ could take pictures of her at the show, unless of course, you'll be in attendance. That's the most fun, being there yourself to see her in the actual competition. I know it was for us as Russ and I both had fish entered last year.

Sakai tosai sanke

Mr. Koimann. Both your sakai sanke and kohaku are amazing. The body conformation and quality are outstanding. I am also very interested in Mr. Saki koi. But may I ask you in what range of US Dollars or yens do you acquire the sanke tosai and nisai kohaku ? Also which dealer in the States do you use. Thanks.
