6' Show Tank

I got some of Fancy Koi Outlet's new 6' show tanks, and wanted to set one up and play with it. So I set it up in my back room where my 600 gal QT tank is and tied it into the QT tank filter. I use sand/gravel filters on all my holding tanks but also flow through well water. So I installed a shower drain for an over flow out to waste and routed a slip stream from the sand/gravel filter to the new show tank. Now my flow through instead of just leaving my 600 gal QT tank and going to waste now goes to the show tank and then to waste. The trickle doesn't look like much but it's a gallon every 10 minutes. 6 gallons an hour, 144 gallon water change daily. That's about 15% water change daily.

I used a rubber Fernco fitting on the out let so I can easily remove the tank and take it for shows.

These new show tanks are pretty darn nice for the money. And yes, I will be using the net cover.

Looks good Steve. I have ben admiring them from a distance and wondering how good they really are. It is nice to hear a good report. Now we just need to see how they hold up long term.

I have know Lam for a long time now and he had told me about those tanks many years ago. If a club was hard up on money and was looking to add some show tanks to their supply they should jump on the good price.

Tony

For clubs to make the investment in tanks for shows, they do look at the long term life of the tank. I haven't yet seen anything that holds up for long if you allow them to be dragged around with a small bit of water in them to clean when tearing down. Yes, the price is good, and I too have known Lam for quite some time. After talking with him about these tanks, they seem like a good investment versus other brands out there currently. Again, as long as someone is in charge of tearing down the show makes certain that folks don't just drag the tanks around for cleaning, I think they'll hold up for several years. After all, they're only used once a year (usually).
