Best breeders for Tosai shopping in Niagata

Ok, so if you could buy tosai in Niagata who would you go to for the following. I've put down who I think is ok but please give some more ideas.

Asagi: Otsuka/Hosokai
Showa: Ueno/Tosio Sakai for new type sumi
Aigoromo: ?
Shiro: Keneko/Yengeni
Yamabuki: ?
Kujaku: Kaneko
Gin Rin Ochiba:?
Doits Kigoi:?

Hosokai has done a good job of coming up with unique koi like your kigoi request as has otsuka

I'm a big fan of Toshio, so all the rest, I'd be looking there especially with goromo.

I think all breeders produce good tosai, it a matter of what price you get them at and the future potential. Anyways, it seems most breeders nowadays share tosai to make up for what they cant produce well.

Erns

Here are changes to your above list:

Asagi: HOSOKAI, then Otsuka. I've heard Otsuka uses Hosokai bloodline for his breeding.
Showa - Torazo, Dainichi,Hiroi,Marudo,Sekiguchi, Seijuro,Yagengi
Aigoromo - Marusei
Yamabuki - Izumiya
Kujaku - Kaneko, Hosokai
Gin Rin Ochiba - Hiroi, Marusei
Doitsu Kigoi - Jurosuke, Hiroi, Hosokai

Toshio Sakai is located in Isawa, not Niigata. His brother Toshiyuke is there however at Yamamatsu Koi Farm. Many nice Gosanke and some Kawari.

When are going? This makes a difference as some breeders don't release their tosai for sale until March or later.

Erns,

If you changed your list to include more of Japan, this would be my choice;

Asagi - Hosokai
Showa - Toshio Sakai
Ai Goromo - Toshio Sakai
Yamabuki - Yagozen, Izumiya
Kujaku - Kaneko, Hosokai
Shiro - Omosako, Yagenji
Gun Rin Ochiba - Hiroi
Doitsu Kigoi - Jirosuke

Hello Erns . . .

Another approach would be to buy the 2 Volume set:

Koi by Harald Bachmann.

It's a serious work with a serious price tag for serious hobbyists.

IMHO, the sections breaking out breeders by region by variety by quality elevate the set to required reading status for someone in your position.

thanks Russ

The point I was trying to make is that the man has more than Gosanke. I agree the store front is not in Niigata, but lots of his operations are there,

A lot of his Koi live in the Niigata area for about half the year.

The best place to get everything would be, either Sakai Hiroshima and Ogata'er...they seem to have everything one can think of...
