CFKS Koi Judging Seminar

can anyone shed more light on it than this (copied from the cfks site):
Judging Seminar
Seating will be limited. Participants will judge live fish and hear the Art's selection and rationale for his choices.

Luke

I can't shed more light on the info but I'm curious. If this is a ZNA judging seminar, aren't they usually run by the show judging team rather than one individual's selections/opinions?

Mike,
CFKS is a joint venture by multiple clubs and not strictly by ZNA SKA. As such, they do not have ZNA judges every year. This year its an AKCA group. Art is a ZNA judge so I am not sure if it is the ZNA judging seminar or one just being put on by the club.

Yes, all of the participants will be judging a selection of Koi. Art will do the same. Once the judging is complete Art is going to discuss his selections and why he selected each of them.
I don't know what the judging criteria is or how the Koi are being ranked.

This is not a ZNA judging seminar. This seminar just happens to coincide with the ZNA presidents meeting being held a the show. Since ZNA opted not to hold a judging seminar, the show thought it would be a good thing to have one anyway and so it from the AKCA judging aspects (not really much difference). So to clarify what is going on here:
1. The judging seminar is sponsored by the show using AKCA certified judge as an insight on judging to those that wish to participate.
2. There is no recognition by ZNA America or ZNA Inational for certificates of attendance or recordings or accomplisments for ZNA judges or perspective judges (i.e. this is just a stand alone show sanctioned judging event, nothing more).
3. Complete details of what will be provided to the attendee to show accomplishment or any kind of recognition I am not sure of. Joe White may be able to shed some light upon this, but I really think it is being offered just as a chance to experience and then appreciate the role a judge plays, why he picks one Koi over another when judging and comparing the two etc.
4. If you have never done this before, you should do it. You will walk away with a whole new view of Koi show judging and where your talents are or aren't. A truly fun experince at a cost that can't be beat (at this level).

Mac,
Please contact Joe White or Henry C. as they are the cochairs this year. I have no active role in the judging seminar, only some info on it. The shows website is: koiplace.orlandokoi.org - Home
you should be able to get all the contact info and forms necessary for just about anything show related at the site.

Rod,

except for the revisit 2007 show link, most of the other links are broken.

I did the ZNA one last year...I am wondering how much they will be the same and how much they will differ.
