New Kohaku...

My friend's new Kohaku and he wanted to get some opinions on it. The fish is 14" from unknown breeder.

Looks good. Question is the beni and the unreliability of photos. There is a hint of a shimmer in the red, which sometimes is a photograph's way of showing high lustre of fine skin on young Hi. While the pattern does not appeal to me, it is nicely balanced.

I think it goes back to the Japanese mentality of finding good parent sets...

Good luck with that!

I tried that bit long ago, budgie breeding that is. Maybe I shoulda learned my lesson then. When we began the darn things were bringing $22 a whack, wholesale. By the time we had six or eight hundred of 'em they were down to a buck and a quarter. Hmmm....still better'n breeding koi.

I'm down to one cockatiel, one scarlet macaw, and one peahen.

Now, if I could just ween myself off of koi....
