finally I can see the pix.

would water in the States be as good as water in Japan? ok, it's no brainer question. So should we hope for this kinda of growth? I guess one can always hope.

I finally received pictures of the tosai I purchased last year from Omosako san to be grown out under Omosako's care. Omosako sent me 10 pictures to choose from, and I bought 3 tosai. JNorth picked one, I picked one and the third was purchased by another customer. I thought I would show you how both Jim’s and my koi have changed. I think Jim will be pleased with how his turned out (38cm). I picked my tosai solely on head shape, and tail tube. As a dealer I should probably be more humble, but Omosako san says that this tosai (40cm) turned out the best of all the koi put in that pond. In fact he plans on putting her on his website in his Process of Growth section.

Now ALL of the pix are there... even in the first post.
(The evil ALGORE must've surrendered his control of the WWW once he realized I had figured out his plot)

Now, on to serious stuff.
These have held their patterns and filled in nicely, unlike some I've seen development photo's of. I partticularly like the facial pattern on the one with the nice "hooks" on the nose and forehead.
What were the key indicators you used when picking them in the first place?

Yes, please do.

Shawn, are our growout Shiros tosai or under a year? Very few actually look like yearlings, more like 6-9mos, and will be tosai in spring. Any clues?

I selected it by the head shape, tail tube and body length, especially back half of the body.
Pattern? Well, there are some pattern on it.....
