I have begun to refuse raisins in the oatmeal cookies sent to me in payment for membership in the IKCU as I'm not sure some of the raisins received were actually raisins-----
As many of you know, it has been my life long dream since I discovered the hobby a few years ago to form a truly International association of koi keepers interested in koi, goldfish, guppies, mosquito fish, longfin indonesian carps, bettas, frogs, bogs, flowering water plants, Siamese cats, flower horns, marine aquariums, hamsters and gerbils etc., as one great unit for these salt of the earth individuals to have a free exchange of ideas under my flag of International koi keeping. I dream of a day when we can all see gerbil keepers share their experiences with koi keepers in hopes that we will all see that they, and we, are all God's creatures. And in some small way, I will have made my mark.
As the movement grew, I began to realize that 'International' might not be enough of an ambition and even might be too limiting. Certainly with the talented individuals I have surrounded myself with, we could easily bring our brand of open koi keeping to Asia and show what Amercians can do with koi. But then I thought, If this is to be my legacy, why stop at 'International'? So after many hours of behind the scenes discussion with some of the greatest minds in the newbie culture of koi keeping, I/we decided to create a truly unique concept- An Intergalactic koi club of the Universe. And so it was born. The greatest story ever told.
To date I have solicited no one ( other than bakers) yet O how our ranks have swelled! The first 25 memberships were scooped up quicker than a gerbil is drawn to one those tiny stationary wheels! And still more come. Day after day, week after week. We are now up to 131 life time Sapphire Platinum velvet members!
With your help we will become the largest Internet koi association in the Universe! God bless you all, and good night---
