Russ,

Domestics are more expensive for dealers, not hobbyists. Japanese fish by and large are more expensive, and high end Japanese koi can be astonishingly expensive. But, it really depends on where you feed on the food chain.

Hi Richard,

I know that but I was replying to a post by Jim that said that a dealer could not get the same quality Japanese Tosai for the same price as a dometic Tosai. That for the same price for each the Japanese Tosai would have to be of lesser quality. My point was that since we pay less for imports that the statement was not valid.

Didn't you know? We are nationwide.

Honestly though, I don't have any plans to expand sales beyond what we are currently doing. The more I sell, the less time I spend with the fish. It's a conundrum. By the way, I brought in the last of the nisai and sansai from last year's fish. Even though we lost our best nisai pond during the summer and about 2/3's of our best fish I think this group is a clear step forward.

I did see some of your fish at Ebay, but i think that is business side. on hobby side i like to see not buy to talk about some koi in a tub right in front of you. Japanese Breeder could see it or not i don't know but they keep travel to America to talk a bout it i think you should do same way with your business, this is my personal thought.

How about a San Joaquin Koi Seminar? Maybe it could be a spring thing.

I agree, and it is a goal for the future. I would like to be able to offer that experience directly at the farm with our best fish. However, we first have to have fish worth the effort and then the facilities and staffing to accommodate the traffic. To do that I need to sell fish to build the reputation and quality. That is why I sell on eBay. It is a stepping stone. As the quality improves so will our ability to meet your requests, but I don't want to offer more than I can deliver. I am satisfied for now that we have an outlet for the fish and that despite the drawbacks of selling and or buying online, we can offer a good product at a fair price.

Oh that would be fun. A seminar where the breeder asks more questions than the audience.
