I thought about trying to place that koi in our pond (who wouldn't want something like that), and what if something went wrong? Acclimation problems, ulcers, etc... Quarantine pond... How to quarantine something like that? Our Q pond at the time was 8' long and LOL.. that would be like putting it in a transport tank...If it jumped? no stopping it....You can tell I was seriously considering it at the time... course the shipping alone was more than my total fish budget that trip. So I had to show some restraint with koi....for once...

I have seen a 35" Kujaku at a dealers, it was bought by a hobbyist here in NorCal but soon died at the dealers place.

Also have seen a 35" Ogon to at the same place that won best in Variety at the All-Japan Show...

Haven't seen a Shiro over 34", now that would something to see...

Art Lembke has a Chagoi pushing 36" (if not larger). He wanted to take it to Koi America but both Tim Waddington and I talked him out of it since the biggest bags he had were only 48" long and it was doubtful that it would fit in Art's large coolers.

Dan Charnes and Gene Smith down in Dallas have a Chagoi that was 98 cm (38.5+") the last time I measured her (about 1.5 years ago).

Dan and Gene...

Dan and Gene do have some killer fish and their Koi husbandry skill is outstanding. A Koi in their hands will undoubtedly have the chance to reach is full genetic potential.

Hey PapaBear,
Would you contact Dan & Gene and get them to post with a picture of their fish. The same goes for all of you maybe you could swim along side the fish just to give us a better insite as to how large it is.
I think this is going to be fun !!

I've never known either of them to post here, and I only have pics of a few of theirs from some shows...
