Rainbow Koi in Melksham, Wiltshire has imported one of the biggest Koi Carp to leave Japan

Named "The Big Girl",the largest coloured Koi ever exported from Japan has arrived at her new home - Rainbow Koi, Melksham, Wiltshire. She is 120cm long, 90lb in weight and as the publicity blurb says, "Seeing is believing!!"

She is a strain of Giant Carp known as Kigoi and is labeled as 17 years old. Rainbow dont plan to sell her at the moment, but instead are just content to wallow in the publicity her arrival has brought. They plan to put in a web cam link to their website so that people who cannot travel to Melksham can enjoy seeing her swiming around. Although at the time of posting this was not available you can see a thumbnail of "The Big Girl" on the Rainbow Koi website's fish page. If you would like to see a moving pictures and a BBC report then go to this BIG FISH NEWS LINK. For still pictures Practical Fishkeeping have some pictures of when she arrived and the usual professional article by Matt Clarke.
I watched the live video and all that fish did was sit on the feeding shelf at the bottom of the pond.
