Beautiful Koi Aye. Do they have good koi shows up your way. I'd hate to see that just sit hidden in some pond somewhere.

We have not had any shows around the Toronto area yet and this koi was selected for breeding rather than show the photo does not show her well . I do have some nice fish might take them down to Florida one year . Wonder what regulations there would be from Canada .
Regards
Eugene

Gene,

Rethink your question about regulations. There are generally no FROM regulations but gazilions of TO regulations.

For example, moving from Canada is OK but moving TO Maine is illegal.

A number of state fish and game departments are testing regulations to prohibit incoming shipmnets of koi in order to address their perceived risks of Spring Viremia of Koi (SVK) which for some reason is higher on their lists of bugaboos than KHA ever has been. The issues seem to be more about potential risks to the game fish and fish farming industries than about anything else. The testing and quarantine procedures can often be sufficiently onerous as to make the transfers almost cost prohibitive on a small scale.

Hmmmm, not sure I agree with that Paladin but I guess its a matter of one's perception(s). Take regulations regarding SVC. It is not illegal to import koi "To" the US. It is however not permitted "From" countries/areas known to have SVC. As such, it becomes a "From" regulation....at least on the federal level.
