A pleasant surprise

Here are 4 shusui that were growing by themselves in a little mudpond on the back end of the farm. We had actually forgotten about them until the boys pumped down the pond to harvest the Plecos that were growing there.
These shusui were spawned in April 07. The shusui that u see in the tank were photographed last week............Same spawn.....different growing environments. What a difference a little growing room makes HUH.

Nice Visual Representation

of what effect water volume has on a koi's growth. Also, I would bet that there was little competition for food that was available. Makes me wish I had the resources to get some of my fish into a larger pond environment. Preferably a mud pond environment.

Bottom right two are both LF. We spawned for both. Suda parents were used in both cases.

It's good to see you again. I was wondering what happened to you.

I don't usually like Shusui but I really like the one at the top.

I did an experiment with some fry 2 years ago. I put a couple in a 75 gallon aquarium and the rest in the pond. It was amazing at the difference in size by the end of the summer.
