AJKS Flag

We were fortunate to be introduced to a man named Neil, by Bob and Joan Finnegan. Neil took the time to show us and explain the flag that is waved at the end of the ceremonies by the winner of the AJKS. On the flag are individual banners that list all of the information for each of the winners from all of the shows. It is quite a piece of history. The first two pictures of the banners show Andrew Filipowski and Martin & Mark. The last banner shown is the very first winner of the AJKS.

The last ribbon actually reads Mr. Masayuki Araki, from Ehime Prefecture.

BTW, thanks for all the photos Russ...they're much appreciated. Seems like you must have been busy taking them at the show as I completely missed you!

Sorry about that, I did not take notes and I obviously remembered it wrong. It was pretty cool getting to see it though.

Was he the first winner, did I remember that part correctly?

I took about 900 photos but I have not posted many of the Koi as there are some other links to those pictures already posted.

I looked around for you but did not see you anywhere either.

Yes, Masayuki Araki was the first winner of the Shinkokai AJKS back in 1968 with a Doitsu Sanke bred by Toraichi Seki (Sekitora Koi Farm) and it beat 1077 other koi to take the title.

I have the book in my bookshelf, so I guess I could look it up. What koiboy says sounds correct though, so I'll stay put.
