We took the train out to Isawa this morning. It was a great ride as it had snowed all day the day before and the scenery was outstanding. These pictures were taken from a moving train.

It did not take long to get to INC. Once there we were taken over to the new greenhouse.

The greenhouse, luckily, was full of Koi.

The day started out with a treat. Mr. Sakai pulled a Tategoi Sanke with pink Beni for us to enjoy. Pink Beni is usually found on Kohaku and is usually hard to find, so to get it on a Sanke is truley rare and a treat to see.

The first pictures are of the Tategoi Sanke and the second Sanke is something Mr. Sakai pulled to show what the pink Beni looks like when it is more finished.

These pictures are of a Sanke that is growing out for one of our cutomers and a Showa that we are growing out.

Great pictures always look forward to seeing them .One question I have is on the Tancho fish the round deep tancho spot is incredible . I wonder if both parents used are Tancho and percentage of such incredible fish from a spawn . Would it be one in a 1000 or 1 in 10000?

Good question, I don't beleive Mr. Sakai uses parents that are Tancho and he does not have a lot of Tancho so I would also guess the numbers are more like 1 in 100000.

Russ-new green house, do I see an interior layer of viscreen inside the new green house? When did Sakai-san build these and where are they in relationship to their INC headquarters?

I really liked you AJKS pics, nice to see Erwin and Larry as well. Will we see a sneak preview of the "grand prize" award for the judging contest later this month at the Sakia seminar?

Hi Dan,

Yes he does have a layer of visqueen(sp) inside the greenhouse. It creates that double pane insulating effect. It was really warm inside. The greenhouse is a couple of Kilometers away from INC headquarters.

We will be photographing the seminar Koi tomorrow.
