I remember 15 years ago we were at Golden State fish farm in Sacramento. My wife say an utsuri and ask the owner if he had any. He told my wife they were garbage fish and nobody wanted them. Yes utsuris have come a long way

Mike your description of the Orlando show sounds like it is going to be amazing. I hope the koi being judged will be great in comparison to other southern shows just as those for sale are.

Ohh, I'm in big trouble is a dealer does bring in any nice ones (2 year olds)!! Last year someone entered 15 or so babies in the show. What a joy to see them all together. I could have taken home the entire lot, but alas they belonged to someone else. DH said thankfully they belonged to someone else...LOL

A 'three' colour fish always trumps, a two color, except for a Kohaku

My opinion is that a well proportioned truly excellent quality three colour fish will always trump an equally superior two colour fish. Even a perfect shiro utsuri.

The possible exception is the extraordinary koi which Dale Torok and I have joined in partnership and purchased and now have imported which is an extraordinary 'huge' absolutly breathtaking Kohaku from Sakai in Japan which we plan on showing through-out the mid-west this year...

This once in a lifetime Kohaku from Sakai may be the most impressive fish in both the enormity of it's size, its perfect pattern and the overall balanced confirmation in the USA today.

Sakai, said that in his opinion she will be the most wining of koi in the USA in the foreseeable future.

Dale is in charge and is taking care of this fish in a pond in Kentucky. He says, without question, she should be ready to be shown through-out the mid-west, Chicago, Minnesota, etc...as Winter turns to Spring.

If that is what you are claiming. Please bring her out to GARDENA (ZNA SoCal). If your up to it. We have a couple of big girls that can compete with her down here.

In my opinion, if a fish doesnt make a trip to the West Coast Shows(ie California) it cant be considered the winningest fish the US has seen.

this is for sure...

Lee, you need to come play with the big boys and girls on the west coast, you might be surprised at the level of competition here. Without a win in SoCal, you don't have the best koi in the USA, Flip even had a couple of his big girls brought out to Socal a few years back, if memory serves me correctly he took GC and RGC, now that is a real win win.
