Lee,
I'm inviting you out. I'll pay for your show tank just to bring out your babies. Is it from Sakai (yamamatsu), Sakai (Matsunosuke) or Sakai fish Farm.

Lee, I'm so excited to be able to see such a fish!! You mentioned Minnesota!!! I'm jumping up and down!! Since you and Dale are partnering with the fish and only one can keep her, you both will qualify to enter our show if that is what you wish. Our show rules require that the owner (or one of them in your case ) have the fish under their care and control at least 3 months prior to the show.

But pick your shows wisely my friend, with such a large girl. Too many shows and too many transports in one season can really mess up a good koi....trust me ... I know.

Nancy has a good point as well. You want to debut her at a large show with some stiff competition. While I would love to have you come to Minneapolis, our show is still very young and the competition is not really great right now. But I hear tell there are some out so state folks planning to enter this year so it just might start climbing the ladder soon.

Best of luck to you and your new girl Lee!! Hope to see her very soon. Is she in the states yet? Orlando maybe or is this just too soon?

Nancy, you're obviously correct with your opinion.

Nancy and Aquitori,

You're both correct in your opinion that to have the best fish, one must also show upon the West Coast. Thus, we are very seriously considering flying a couple of our fish to the West Coast show...Of course, for the competition and fun of being there.

As you recall Ray Abells' was invited to the show last year in some form of judging authority. And, we've already both spoken of bringing a few of my fish to that show. Ray spoke so highly of the quality of fish shown there and of all the wonderful people who always participate that it certainly encourages me to want to meet some of these people who I know only by email and different koi forums.

This past week-end, I was showing a few of my fish at the Tropical Koi Club Show in Boca Raton, Florida and Galen was judging, who as you know is from California...along with Chuck Poppe from the Potamac area and we got into a conversation about my showing some of my fish in California and Las Vegas.

They thought it would be fun for us to do and as there is no reason it cannot be done...we should be able to find the time to get out to the West Coast this year.

However, whether it is our new mega beauty or one of the other several fish which we keep in the US - it doesn't matter, as most with the fish we are blessed owning are GC quality anyway.

And, hopefully encourages more people to enter into the hobby having seen such outstanding fish and others who already own great fish, eager to pushing the hobby onto a higher play field.

All the best,

Lee A

I think you are better off to leave the picture off the board. We have a number of judges that frequent these boards and you'd simply be posting "A PICTURE" of your koi. Just tell us where you plan to show this kohaku and I would love to go see her.

As much as I would love to see this Kohaku, I have to agree. She should have a proper debut and that isn't on the internet!!! I'm sure we'll get to see her sometime soon Lee!!

Are you attending Orlando this year? Looking forward to visiting with you once again. If the weather cooperates along our drive route, we are planning attendance. Looking forward to some warm weather for a change as well.

We will have it for you, Sue. The 10-day forecast is showing mid-70s during the day on Friday and Saturday of the show.... but, you'll need a light jacket... upper-50s at night. Sorry about that. ...One of the good times is Friday night sitting around the atrium after the pizza party, with a favorite beverage. It's always the time for leisurely conversation. If a touch too cool, I'm sure we can keep the volunteers hospitality room open.

50s at night? That's a heat spell to us!!! Sounds like heaven.....sitting, relaxing and enjoying a beverage with some great conversation!!! The sitting part sounds especially nice right now. It's been a bit hectic around here lately.
