I liked this much better than the staple food. The only down side is you will see oil floating on the water with this food. I have a surface skimmer, so it is no problem for me. I am doing the KP growout contest. So, I should really be able to tell how this food stacks up against others using different brands. I can't complain about the color quality though.

I am interested in EA's new food with no fish meal. It is made with bugs, worms, etc. It's supposed to mimic their diet in a natural lake. It's an interesting idea, I just haven't read any reviews on it yet???

Dick reported favorably on EA One. His fish went for it with gusto.

You say you got this Shiro from the breeder Marusho. What is his reputation as far as Shiro's; how do his tend to develop?

Nice Shiro; but I wonder if after a time there may be a bit too much sumi on the head to look nice aesthetically; I could definately be mistaken.

I do not know the specific development patterns of Marusho utsuri. I can state that the sumi on the head has tightened up and is actually less. So, I'm not worried about it overwhelming the head pattern. Here is a development picture of my other Marusho utsuri. This one was purchased on the same day as the other...2 years ago. The picture on the left was at 4 inches. The picture on the right was from last season. Not a great photo...but a nice utsuri. A little smaller than the other...not sure of the gender yet.

I tried a smaller bag of the EA One. Fish really loved it. Dick B has tried it and likes it as well. I have the luxury to see how food is digested by the fish in my indoor holding tanks through plexiglass windows. This food seemed to cause a bit more poop then I'm used to, but the colors seem brighter. So I'm not sure yet about feeding it. The cost is an issue as well. I may continue with it as a suppliment. Protein levels are a bit over 40% if I recall as well so you wouldn't want to feed as a staple IMHO.
